This restaurant hands down beats any chain you can come across! We had 4 of their sandwiches, chips and both the potato salad and coleslaw. EVERYTHING was fantastic. The decor was fun and upbeat. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely try to go back for some ice cream!

The sandwiches we have ordered have tasted terrific. The portions are very generous. The food is well prepared. I highly recommend the Republican and the meatloaf sandwich. Both are delicious. The service is prompt, and it is run very efficiently. It is a clean, safe feeling, family-friendly restaurant.

A MUST stop. The best sandwiches and the staff is awesome. Can't recommend enough. We usually get the Republican and the Crown Victoria but we haven't had anything that's not great!

Don't waste your time with fast food at the edge of the highway, come here and snag a sandwich that will make your taste buds and tummy happy! We had The Sour Kraut - perhaps the best Reuben ever - and the Scooter D Cubano - a fun spin using brisket. Both came with generous serving of salt and pepper chips. Also, your choice of Cole Slaw, Potato Salad or extra chips - the slaw and pot salad are solid choices. Fun kid choices of grilled cheese, pb&j, ham&cheese or Nutella&banana. Fun groovy atmosphere and very clean. Also have ice cream but we were too full for that!

What a hidden gem. We stumbled across this place when we needed to get gas on our way up north. Everything is local/MI, fresh, and delicious. There are a dozen different inventive sandwiches on delicious bread. Ordered a Cuban with brisket. So delicious from the bread to the meats, cheese, and pickle. Sandwiched some with salt and pepper chips and a side of coleslaw or potato salad. The ice cream looks so good to. Kids ordered a blueberry shake and lavender/lemon shake. Both were good. Will definitely make it a point to stop here when we travel back and forth.

This is our favorite sandwich shop in the big rapids area. Located about 2 miles from our RV Resort. Great sandwiches with really fresh ingredients. My wife likes the Cuban and I prefer the republican (not due to my politics just a really good sandwich). The burger is also good.

Hidden gem! Traveling to Charlevoix stopped in. I had Mel's a Brat and husband had Italian Stallion. Mine was good, the bread is buttery on both sandwiches the brat probably wouldn't try again, it was more like a sausage but good. The Italian stallion was bursting with flavor. Chips have a seasoning little too much pepper for me. The deviled egg salad was a mustard potato salad and the coleslaw was fresh and good. Sat outside on picnic tables with dogs, you could take them on the patio too. Plenty of room to walk them too. It's in the same building as a Bp which is great because you can fill up, get drinks and snacks for the road.

The reviews on Yelp made me drive 25 minutes to this deli. I had The Jacked Up Cuban. It was so good I drove up again the next day. Don't get me wrong there were plenty of choice around us, but I heart this sandwich. Yo, listen... local smoked brisket + ham + gruyere cheese + pickles + coleslaw + French fried onions + herb sauce + home made seasoning on a Cuban loaf. I had to post a picture from both days. Every bite was heavenly. They have some good tasting soft serve and a variety of Michigan branded ice cream, which were also quite delicious. The sandwich is served with good kettle chips and choice of some good tasting coleslaw or devil's egg potato salad. It made the meal extra special. They have outdoor seating and while they are next to a gas station it didn't bother us. It's worth the drive. We will be back! Wait... we did came back, ok we will be back again....

Wow, I was blown away by Fatbelly Deli & Creamery! Nate and I were on the road heading north and needed something to eat. We found this spot and decided to stop by on our way towards Canadian Lakes. I wasn't sure what to expect, but with the number of great Yelp reviews I figured it couldn't hurt to check it out. It's really in what seems like the middle of nowhere - exit 131 off 131. There's a slight aroma of manure when you get out of your car, but don't worry - the wait for these sandwiches was worth it. I got the Italian Stallion and he got the Green Monster curry chicken salad sandwich. They come with kettle chips and your choice of coleslaw or deviled egg potato salad. The person taking our order was super friendly and polite and asked if we were camping nearby. They deliver to the campgrounds! As of July 2021, you could dine in, have it delivered to your car, or eat outside at one of the many picnic tables. We opted to get ours to-go since we were in a bit of a hurry. When we opened the boxes we were happy to see everything looked great. The Italian was so delicious! The bread was perfect, with a bit of crust on the outside but soft inside without getting soggy. The ingredients were all fresh. It was one of the best Italian sandwiches I've had in awhile. I didn't love the coleslaw, not much flavor, but the potato salad was better. I had a bite of the Green Monster and loved the light curry flavor! All the sandwiches sounded tasty and some were pretty unique which was a nice surprise. My only complaint is that at $14 the Italian Stallion was a little pricier than I might expect, but they use quality ingredients. I'd absolutely stop here again on the way up north.
